Balcarres self catering apartments are located in the Highland town of Fort William. They command an ideal position with beautiful views over Loch Linnhe and the mountains beyond, while still being only fifteen minutes' walk from the town centre. Fort William itself sits at the foot of Ben Nevis, and is an ideal base for visiting the north west of Scotland, being within easy reach of Glencoe, Oban, Inverness, and Mallaig with the ferry to Skye and the Hebrides. During the summer, the Jacobite steam train runs between Fort William and Mallaig, and is a treat not to be missed.

Balcarres is ideally located off the main A82 trunk road which runs from Glasgow to Inverness. It is on the south side of Fort William, and approximately one mile from the town centre.

Driving south out of Fort William take the second turning left into Seafield Gardens. Once in Seafield Gardens, continue for approximately fifty yards and then take first turning left up the hill into a private cul-de-sac. Balcarres is located at the end of the drive. If you are coming from the south (Oban/Glasgow), you will need to take a right hand turning into Seafield Gardens (Loch Linnhe is on your left as you drive along). The turning is just before the Lochaber Yacht Club clubhouse on the left, and almost at the end of Achintore Road, the road leading into the town.

By road

The roads to Fort William are a pleasure to drive on, with fantastic views all along the way. Fort William is well signposted with access via the A82 from the North and South. Approximate driving times are one and a half hours from Inverness and two and a half hours from Glasgow.

By rail

Scotrail runs a regular service from Glasgow Queen Street along the famous West Highland line. There is also a sleeper service available from London. Click here for timetable details.

By plane

The most convenient airports are Inverness (70 miles) and Glasgow (100 miles). Car hire is available at both airports.
